Local health officials in China say they are investigating a hospital, after a video surfaced on social media showing authorities confiscating thousands of yuan in cash.
The video was circulated online by an anonymous user on China’s Weibo social media platform.
The footage shows health officials removing money and boxes from the office of a doctor who runs a medical outpatient clinic in Jilin, China.
The story emerged just days after police announced the findings of a 14-month investigation into a transplant centre in Henan province.
Doctor Hui Huajie was suspended from his position after the state said his practice “engaged in multiple illegal business practices and brought infringements on the rights of health practitioners and pharmaceutical companies”.
The raid in Jilin was carried out just days after health officials closed down two medical centres in the eastern city of Xiamen for illegal fundraising for a sick local girl.
One doctor is reported to have taken to social media to say “Hui is only the first target” and encouraged others to do the same.
“Be alert. This will just be the beginning of the problems,” he is reported to have said.
